The cheapest cremation in England and Wales is a direct cremation with Harbour. A direct cremation is a cremation without an attended funeral service. Friends and family can receive the ashes so they can hold their own personalised ceremony to celebrate the life of the person who has died if they choose.
Harbour’s low cost cremations
Harbour offers a respectful, private and individual direct cremation service for as little as £895. There are no hidden fees or upfront costs. We take care of everything on your behalf to make the direct cremation as stress free as possible for you.
Our low cost cremation is substantially cheaper than the average cremation funeral in the UK which is £3,885. We guarantee that this will be the cheapest cremation option in England and Wales.
In addition, we also offer financing from as little as £24.95 per month. There is no upfront payment or deposit necessary. If you are eligible, the UK Government’s Funeral Expenses Payment can cover your funeral costs and Harbour can help you to apply.
What is included with Harbour?
For the minimum cost of £895, Harbour will collect your late friend or relative from any hospital or mortuary in England or Wales and bring them to our crematorium. We will also provide a simple and environmentally-friendly coffin, carefully designed by British craftsmen.
Our experienced team will conduct the individual and private cremation. They will let you know the date and time in advance, in case you would like to commemorate it yourself.
The ashes can be scattered in our Garden of Remembrance, free of charge. Or, you can have them delivered to you in a wooden urn for an extra £91. This enables you to scatter them in your own special way – read on for some suggestions on this.
10% of our profits go towards funding scholarships for NHS doctors and nurses as we believe these valuable medical professions deserve more support
Harbour also has a number of additional low cost services that you can choose from. For example, we can hand-deliver the ashes to you in a sustainably-sourced and British-made wooden urn, complete with an engraved nameplate of your loved one. This option is available for £91.
Likewise, Harbour can remove pacemakers and other battery-powered implanted medical devices. These devices must be removed before a cremation can go ahead. This service incurs a further fee of £100 to cover the cost for a qualified professional to certify the item’s removal.
After Harbour has taken care of the cremation and you have received your ashes, you have a number of options available. Included in our low-cost cremation, you can scatter your loved ones’ ashes in our Garden of Remembrance. Alternatively, you may find that scattering them abroad may be a more appropriate resting place. There are certain requirements for travelling with ashes and you can read about them here.
Our friends at urnsforashes.co.uk have a range of cremation urns for storing and transporting ashes. We can deliver the ashes to you in one of their containers for a reasonable price. This can make scattering them easier, for instance you can purchase a water biodegradable urn for casting ashes into rivers, lakes or the sea.
However, some people prefer to scatter their ashes in a more dramatic way. For example, Heavenly Stars offers a memorable and explosive scattering experience by incorporating ashes into fireworks.
But even this send off is not climactic enough for everyone. A few individuals prefer to go one step further and send their ashes into space. Learn more about this beautiful and spectacular option here.
