Direct Cremation in Buckinghamshire

View of Buckinghamshire

The South East of England has the second highest funeral costs in the UK, with a staggering average price of £4,800. For many people, this is an impossible figure, leading to a great deal of financial strain at an already difficult time. As a result, direct cremation in Buckinghamshire is growing in popularity as it provides an affordable alternative to extortionate traditional funeral services. At Harbour, we offer direct cremation for just £895, without compromising on dignity or quality, and with no upfront fees or hidden payments.

What is direct cremation?

Direct cremation is also known as a direct funeral or unattended cremation. This is because it separates the cremation from a funeral service or memorial. Instead, the body of the deceased is cremated respectfully and privately at one of our regional crematoria, without mourners in attendance. Afterwards, the ashes are either scattered in the crematorium’s Garden of Remembrance or returned to their next of kin. Many families then choose to arrange their own service or memorial at a later date, at a time and price point which works for them. Often the scattering of the ashes is then incorporated into these memorials.

How much does direct cremation in Buckinghamshire cost?

Take the first step

Answer a few questions and we'll give you an exact price with no strings attached. Alternatively you can also call our team directly on 0800 133 7961 for advice.

At Harbour, the standard price for a direct cremation is £895, the lowest price for direct cremation in England and Wales. By separating the cremation from the funeral service there is no need for the expense of hiring out a venue, as such, direct cremation is far more affordable than traditional funeral services.

For the standard fee of £895, your loved one will be collected from any hospital or mortuary in England and Wales, and transported to our regional crematorium. Our team will look after them until the cremation, and provide them with an environmentally-friendly wooden coffin, made by British craftsmen. There will then be a private, dignified cremation and you will be informed of the date and time in advance. Following the cremation, the ashes can be scattered free of charge in the crematorium’s Garden of Remembrance. Alternatively, the ashes can be returned to your family in a wooden-urn with an engraved nameplate, for the additional fee of £91.

Can I attend the cremation?

Unfortunately not, as there is no funeral service attached to the cremation, mourners are unable to be in attendance. Instead, we will make sure to let you know the date and time of the cremation, should you wish to mark the occasion. Often, families will incorporate the scattering of the ashes into their own memorials at a later date.

If you would prefer a more traditional funeral with a service included, our partner company, Willow Lake, offers funeral services in Aylesbury and will be able to accommodate you. For more information, call a member of their experienced team on 0800 464 7277, or email them at [email protected].
